About us
In line with accession to the European Union treaty commitments, SE Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (hereinafter - INPP or enterprise) completely suspended the production of electricity on 31 December 2009. INPP activity has been changed from electricity producer to decommissioning organization while maintaining the status of nuclear facility operating enterprise.
Two INPP energy units with RBMK - 1500 type (electrical capacity - 1500MW) reactors were closed (Unit 1 was shut down on 31 December 2004, Unit 2 on 31 December 2009) and the decommissioning of the power plant started.
Since 1 January 2010 decommissioning has become the major INPP activity. The main goal of the enterprise is effectively using resources safely and in time to implement the unique project in the world - to terminate the operation of RBMK type plant while maintaining public support for nuclear energy.

The enterprise aims to become known as leader and expert in the safe and effective decommissioning of the nuclear power plants units with RBMK type reactors as well as to use its expertise in future energy sector projects.

The enterprise‘s mission - safely and in time to implement the unique project in the world - to discontinue the operation of RBMK-type plant using resources effectively, while maintaining public support for nuclear energy.
VALUES
Nuclear and Radiation Safety
Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant still remains an enterprise that works with nuclear fuel. For this reason its‘ activity regulating laws such as Nuclear Energy, Radiation Protection, Radioactive Waste Management laws oblige the enterprise to ensure nuclear and radiation safety. Also INPP as a large Lithuanian enterprise must take into account environmental aspects of its activity.
Activity Transparency and Responsibility
Enterprise's management projects are being changed, procurement procedures are being reformed to ensure transparency of projects' management. Every employee in the enterprise is considered as the greatest asset and the success factor. For this reason a fair and voluntary employee participation in decommissioning projects is being promoted at INPP.
Experienced personnel
The enterprise employs a lot of highly experienced and unique knowledge gaining workers, aiming to preserve them. While implementing the enterprise‘s decommissioning projects, the knowledge and the experience of the personnel is applied maximally. INPP encourages its workers‘ frankness, responsibility and initiative. They are given the opportunity to gain new unique experience which they will be able to apply in the future while implementing similar projects.
Activity efficiency
The aim is to use INPP decommissioning funds in a transparent, targeted and efficient way. In order to meet this goal the high-level system of human resources, time and funds, processes and projects management and radioactive waste management should be amplified.
Social responsibility
As the enterprise is the largest employer in the region and its implemented structural reforms affect social environment and changes in the region, it must take into account social aspects of its' activity and take responsibility for the consequences of activity, to act ethically and fairly in regard to employees and society. The enterprise endeavours to ensure the dissemination and accessibility of information on decommissioning projects, their implementation and progress and thus maintain public support for ongoing projects.
