SE Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant Activity Areas
In 2011 State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant Activity Strategy for 2010-2029 was adopted. Five strategic areas of activity were distinguished in this strategy:
-
Ensuring safe INPP operation
The nuclear fuel can be finally taken away from Unit 2 RBMK-type reactor at the INPP after a new spent nuclear fuel storage facility is constructed. It is necessary to ensure the highest RBMK-type reactor operating safety requirements before and during the process of defueling. -
Ensuring safe dismantling of RBMK-type reactor and other technological equipment and systems
The dismantling of RBMK-type reactors and related technological equipment and systems is performed for the first time in the world. For this reason there is a special focus on this activity. The enterprise seeks to ensure high-quality planning, safe decontamination and dismantling process using enterprise's personnel experience/qualifications maximally. -
Ensuring safe radioactive waste management
INPP is ought to ensure safe storage and disposal of radioactive waste according to nuclear and radiation safety regulations and legislation while evaluating preventive measures of radioactive pollution maximally. Therefore, the construction and commissioning of radioactive waste storage and repository facilities is a strategically important INPP activity. -
Ensuring efficient implementation of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant decommissioning activity
In order to ensure a timely, safe and effective implementation of decommissioning projects the INPP is ought to introduce efficient management systems and optimize the enterprise’s activities. -
The use of INPP expertise and resources in nuclear energy market
Ignalina NPP accumulates a unique experience that can be organized and applied to other nuclear energy sector projects through implementing decommissioning projects of the NPP with RBMK-type reactors. There is an opportunity both for the enterprise and highly qualified professionals to apply their experience and competence in providing similar services in other projects/nuclear energy sector.
The enterprise operates in compliance with the Statue.
