2011-04-05 Director of the Ignalina NPP met with Ambassador of Japan
On April 5, the State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) General Director Osvaldas Čiukšys met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Mrs. Miyoko Akashi.
On behalf of all INPP staff, director O. Čiukšys gave condolences for the painful consequences of the tragic natural disaster and incidents at the 1st Fukushima nuclear power plant. The INPP staff constantly monitors the selfless work and efforts of their colleagues and expresses the deep solidarity and respect to colleagues and their families.
Also during the meeting the situation in Fukushima was discussed. Director O.Čiukšys informed that the INPP seeks to improve Lithuanian society awareness about real but not apparent radiation threat and its assessments after the Fukushima incident, and provide relevant and objective information on still developing situation in Japan.
