2011-12-16 INPP “Stress Tests” Report Has Been Approved By VATESI

State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate (VATESI) has inspected and approved of State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant’s (INPP) “Stress Tests” report which was submitted to VATESI on 25 October 2011.

"Stress Tests" are additional detailed and transparent risk and safety assessment during which safety of all nuclear power plants' in European Union must be revised. Decision to carry out "Stress Tests" was adopted by European Council on 25 March 2011 as a response to events at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan.

Presented results of "Stress Tests" report demonstrate that appropriate measures are provided at INPP to be taken in order to ensure safe operation of INPP and storage facilities and to protect people and environment from the harmful effects of radiation in the case of incident or emergency at INPP for a variety of adverse factors.
