On 20 December 2011, in Brussels European Commission's opinion was received concerning the implementation of the plan of operation of Landfill Facility For Short-Lived Very Low Level Waste (Project B19), which will be built on the INPP territory.

After analyzing the results of the assessment which was accomplished according the Euratom Treaty provisions, European Commission concluded that implementing short-lived very low level waste disposal plan at INPP site, the water, soil or airspace of other member states or neighbor countries will not be contaminated by radioactive materials during ordinary operation period of the repository, after its final closure and in case of accidents of various range and extent.

In compliance with European Atomic Energy Community (EURATOM) Treaty's Article 37, member states are obliged to provide the Commission with such general data relating to any plan for the disposal of radioactive waste that will make it possible to determine whether the implementation of such plan is liable to result in the radioactive contamination of the water, soil or airspace of another member state.
