2012-01-20 Relevant Comment

Lately particular statements and comments have appeared in public space on the quality and safety of State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant's (INPP) projects being implemented. We would like to bring in mind that last year the enterprise's management already took series of measures to change the situation after analyzing and evaluating unsatisfactory situation of project B1 (Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility) implementation.

In 2011, the project documentation was analyzed, the supervision of project implementation, work and equipment acceptance, works compliance with technical specification was enhanced. It was concluded that the Contractor which is implementing the Project fails to comply with the requirements stated in technical specification (http://www.iae.lt/en/en/news/press-releases/2011/09/01/comment-se-ignalina-npp-legal-services-procurement/). INPP has informed the Contractor, European Commission and the European bank for reconstruction and development about identified essential Project implementation elements non-conforming to technical requirements.

Currently, it is being dealt with the occured disputes/problems on the further adequate Project execution and existing technical problems solution. The enterprise takes all the possible measures to ensure the compliance with all the requirements stated in the Project technical specification and will not make any compromises at the expense of the Project implementation quality.
