2017-01-26 Vice Minister of Energy together with INPP Director General discussed decommissioning strategic issues
26 of January the Vice Minister of Energy Simonas Šatūnas made a working visit to the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) where with INPP Director General Darius Janulevičius discussed strategic issues of decommissioning the plant, visited new objects which are under construction and watched dismantling works which are performed at the units.
During the visit, the Vice Minister of Energy together with D. Janulevičius discussed Ignalina NPP decommissioning process planning and supervision, issues of strengthening of management and supervision of major projects, decommissioning processes efficiency improvement measures.
Visiting inside the unit, S. Šatūnas became familiar with the scope of the ongoing dismantling works and those works performance results. The Vice Minister of Energy visited B1 (Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility) and B3/4 (Solid Radioactive Waste Storage Facility) projects sites, became familiar with these projects status and the implementation progress.
The Vice Minister was interested in the process of B1 hot trials, during which the casks with spent fuel are transferred from the units into the storage facility. “During the trials 10 new casks will be loaded and transported to a storage facility. Everything is going according to the plan, hot trials completion and obtaining VATESI permission for industrial operation of the storage facility is planned even earlier than it was agreed, "- said Darius Janulevičius.
