A great opportunity to learn from the experience of other countries – Ignalina NPP held seminars...

State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (hereinafter referred to as Ignalina NPP) hosted four one-day seminars on “Reactor dismantling experience”. The main aim of these consultative seminars is to share information, knowledge and experiences with regard to reactor dismantling optioneering, concept design and environmental assessment report development issues.

Seminars captures the great attention of foreign companies, therefore, provided the excellent opportunity to present the expectations and anticipated challenges of Ignalina NPP reactor dismantling project, and to assess the technical and financial aspects of the project.

Participants of Seminars were provided with a broad information on decommissioning projects implementation progress, scope and progress of dismantling works, familiarised with main parameters of reactors to be dismantled and radiological characterisation data. Representatives from foreign countries presented their experience in reactor dismantling optioneering, concept design and environmental assessment report development.

Seminars were attended by representatives of 46 companies from Spain, France, Great Britain, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Russia, Japan, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, as well as by representatives of the European Commission, Ministry of Energy, Central Project Management Agency, State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate (VATESI), Ignalina NPP.
