During the 26 years of operation Ignalina NPP has produced 307, 9 billion kWh of electricity: Unit 1 – 136, 9 billion kWh and Unit 2 – 170, 2 billion kWh. The total amount of electricity sold is 279, 8 billion kWh.
The most important future work is the dismantling of the two world‘s most powerful RBMK reactors. These unique and technologically extremely complex works, which do not have analogues, have not been performed in any country so far.
The rate of dismantling works constantly accelerates after the shut-down of Ignalina NPP. In 2019 Ignalina NPP dismantled 5 483 tonnes of equipment and associated structures. Of these, 3 216 tonnes have been treated and removed as non-radioactive waste and can be disposed of as scrap metal.
