Ignalina NPP signed a contract with the tender’s winner for technical supervision of construction of the INPP Near Surface Repository for Low-and Intermediate-Level Short-Lived Radioactive Waste and the provision of FIDIC engineer services.

The state enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) completed international open procurement procedure and after receipt of the conclusion issued by the Commission for the Coordination of the Protection of Objects of National Security that the potential contractor meets national security interests, has signed a contract with Kelvista UAB on technical supervision of the construction of the INPP Near Surface Repository for Low-and Intermediate-Level Short-Lived Radioactive Waste (project B25) and the provision of FIDIC engineering services. The contract entered into force on November 27th.

The Company intends to use the subcontractors UAB SWECO Lietuva, UAB Statybos Projektų Expertise Centras and UAB Tetas to perform the contract.

The value of the contract is 1 147 709, 20 EUR including VAT.

Public procurement procedures for technical supervision and FIDIC engineer services were launched in April 2019. The procurement was published in the Official Journal of the European Union and the Central Public Procurement Information System. Tender offers were submitted by 3 companies.

The successful tenderer will be responsible for the technical supervision of the construction of a near-surface repository for low and intermediate level short-lived radioactive waste (project B25) and for the provision of consulting services.

In the nearest future a public tender for the construction of the INPP near-surface repository for low and intermediate level short-lived radioactive waste will be announced. The construction of this repository is a prerequisite for the implementation of INPP decommissioning activities and for the safe disposal and storage of radioactive waste. It is planned that the repository will be operational in the INPP site in 2024.

Project B25 is funded by the European Union Ignalina Program.
