Visit the Information Centre at the former nuclear power plant in Lithuania and embark on an exceptional journey through one of the most significant chapters in the history of Lithuanian energy. It is an engaging educational experience, presenting the legacy of Lithuania’s nuclear activities and future nuclear energy projects through interactive means.
The exhibition of the Information Centre is intended for everyone wishing to explore the largest and most ambitious environmental project in Lithuania’s energy sector, and to learn more about the history of the nuclear power plant.

What will you see?
The exhibition at the Information Centre includes:
- A model of the nuclear power plant’s reactor unit – you will have the opportunity to look inside the plant and learn how one of the world’s most powerful and advanced RBMK-type reactor plants operated.
- Models of fuel assemblies and spent nuclear fuel containers – you will see how nuclear fuel is managed and stored.
- Models of radioactive waste repositories – become acquainted with future projects designed to ensure the safe final disposal of long-lived radioactive waste.
- Virtual reality tour – VR goggles will allow you to walk virtually through the plant’s premises, see the reactor, its control panel, spent nuclear fuel storage facilities and other unique plant areas.
- Interactive educational game #energosauga (Energy and Environmental Protection) – test your skills by dismantling the plant and responsibly sorting radioactive waste with your own hands.
Important visitor information:
- Tour reservation in advance is required.
- Duration of the exhibition tour is around one hour.
- Tours take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 10:00.
- Languages offered are Lithuanian, English or Russian.
- Price: free of charge.
- Number of participants: The tour takes place when a group of at least five people has gathered.
- Photography and filming may take place during the excursion. Visual material may be used on the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant website or social media to promote the plant’s activities and to inform the public about this unique project.
