A meeting with Westinghouse representatives

To guarantee timely dismantling of the equipment of blocks A1 and A2, as well as reduction of collective and individual radiation doses of personnel, SE Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) is conducting a research on market’s capabilities to provide services for the dismantling and decontamination of the equipment by external contractors.

On February 20th, 2020, a meeting was held at Ignalina NPP with Westinghouse representatives regarding the drum separators (DS) dismantling on blocks A1 and A2. Westinghouse experts shared their experience and existing technologies for the decontamination and dismantling of the equipment. Various options of the DS dismantling, as well as the opportunity of Westinghouse’s experience in analogous projects application, were considered.

During the meeting, INPP provided presentation about the overall progress in the implementation of decommissioning projects. Furthermore, second presentation regarding DS equipment was given describing the overall purpose of the project, general information and detailed description of the equipment, the main difficulties and constraints associated with the implementation of the project.

INPP plans further informing and cooperation with external contractors to guarantee the successful dismantling of drum separators and equipment in blocks A1 and A2.
