Accuracy of INPP laboratory measurements is among the best

Verification and Calibration Laboratory (hereinafter – VCL) of the State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (SE INPP) was accredited for compliance with the standard LST EN ISO / IEC 17025: 2018 “General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories” during calibration of electrical measuring instruments (by the Order No. АК-65 (10 May 2021) of Director of the Lithuanian National Accreditation Bureau, Accreditation Certificate No. LA.090-02). The scope of accreditation includes a wide range of calibration works of electrical quantities, the accuracy of measurements of which corresponds to the level of the best laboratories in Lithuania.

VCL also has the right to perform conformity assessment of measuring instruments, legal metrological verification in the field of measurements of pressure, temperature, ionizing radiation and electrical quantities. Accreditation was granted by Order No. АК-224 of 4 December 2020 of the Director of the National Accreditation Bureau "On Compliance of the Verification and Calibration Laboratory as a Type C Inspection Body with the Standard LST EN ISO / IEC 17020: 2012" (Accreditation Certificate No. LA.06.031).

Accreditation of a laboratory for compliance with the standards LST EN ISO / IEC 17025: 2018 and LST EN ISO / IEC 17020: 2012 is valid for a period of 5 years, but each year the accreditation is approved by the Lithuanian National Accreditation Bureau.

In accordance with LST EN ISO / IEC 17025: 2018 and LST EN ISO / IEC 17020: 2012 standards, the Management System has been implemented in the Verification and Calibration Laboratory. It is maintained and improved not only considering the requirements of ISO, but also the legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania, international documents, and the policies of the Lithuanian National Accreditation Bureau.

The goal of VCL quality assurance policy is to maintain the constant quality of measurement results, to achieve long-term success by maximally meeting the needs of customers. With the implementation of the LST EN ISO / IEC 17025: 2018 standard, the laboratory has started to apply a risk-oriented approach, which is the basis for increasing the efficiency of the laboratory's management system and avoiding negative consequences.

Accreditation of the laboratory for compliance with the standards LST EN ISO / IEC 17025: 2018 and LST EN ISO / IEC 17020: 2012 provides an opportunity to provide verification and calibration services for measuring instruments throughout the territory of the European Union.

The main objective of the accreditation of the Verification and Calibration Laboratory is to ensure the legal regulation and integrity of measurements during the decommissioning and radioactive waste management processes at INPP, including specific measurements performed at INPP as a nuclear power facility.
