Assets already sold in 2021 are worth almost half a million euros

In the first quarter of 2021, the state enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP) earned almost half a million euros by selling unnecessary assets and from decommissioning activities.

From 2021, sale of unnecessary or unsuitable to use assets is organized not only in the electronic auction information system (AUIS), but also on the website of the State Enterprise Centre of Registers

In the first quarter of 2021, 3 auctions of ferrous scrap metal were organized on the website of the State Enterprise Center of Registers - 1,500 tons of scrap metal were sold. In the first quarter of 2021, INPP received a total of EUR 498,150 in revenue from the sale of unnecessary or unsuitable to use assets and other commercial activities: from the sale of scrap metal - EUR 450,000; from rent and other activities - EUR 48,150.

In the second quarter of 2021, auctions will be carried out through the platforms of the AUIS and SE Registers Centre. It is planned to hold up to 30 electronic auctions and sell about 2,000 tons of scrap metal: non-ferrous scrap metal (brass, copper cables, aluminum), stainless steel scrap, ferrous scrap and other assets.

In 2021, INPP plans to hold up to 60 auctions in total and receive EUR 1,500,000 in revenue.

At auctions INPP sells unnecessary equipment or other assets generated during the implementation of decommissioning projects and dismantling works. With the shutdown of the nuclear power plant, the intensity of dismantling works has increased. The total amount of dismantled equipment in 2020 was 4212 tons, amount of dismantled reinforced concrete and structures - 3579 tons, most of which have been sold at auctions after passing the radionuclide contamination inspection. Such sales not only generate additional revenue for the Enterprise, but also contribute to reducing the amount of waste that should be disposed or taken to disposal facilities.

Pursuant to Order No. 1-386 of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania of 25 November 2020 “Regarding the Transfer of Funds Received for the Assets Sold by the State Enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant”, from 1 December 2020 INPP transfers the proceeds of the sale to the State's Special Reserve (Stabilization) Fund account for the installation of deep geological repository and radioactive waste management.
