Results of SE INPP interested parties survey

In 2020, the state enterprise Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (hereinafter - SE INPP) conducted an interested parties survey for the first time. Its aim was to find out which methods of publicizing the activities of SE INPP are the most attractive, influential, providing awareness and reaching various interested parties best. The analysis of the survey results and the provided constructive recommendations will improve the quality of the content of the publicized activities, as well as the clarity, accessibility, and sufficiency of the information.

Links to the questionnaire were sent to the representatives of various interested parties (media representatives, potential suppliers, responsible institutions supervising the Enterprise's activities, administrators of financing funds, ministries of the Republic of Lithuania, INPP Board, neighboring municipalities, higher education institutions). A total of 111 questionnaires were sent by e-mail, 40% of them were completed. This number of completed questionnaires is considerable, given the variety of questions in the questionnaire (public procurement, auctions, radioactive waste, social networks, career offers, financial statements, etc.).

30% of the persons who filled in the survey questionnaire could not identify themselves as an interested party (i.e., a person or a group of persons interested in the results or success of SE INPP). This suggests that the meaning of this term is not fully understood.

More than 70% of the respondents noted that SE INPP carries out unique decommissioning activities, which are carried out in compliance with the highest safety requirements. Over 70% of the respondents agreed that the company employs highly qualified specialists, half of the respondents stated that SE INPP provides objective and transparent information on ensuring radiation safety during operations. 70% of the respondents indicated that the mission and future perspective of SE INPP are clear to them. Some respondents did not have an opinion on these issues. 45% of the respondents stated that they have enough information about the management of radioactive waste at INPP, 27% of the respondents did not have an opinion (detailed distribution of respondents' assessments is provided in the diagram).

Summarizing the results of the survey on the content of information published by SE INPP, the respondents indicated the insufficiency of information in the following areas: SE INPP radioactive waste repository projects, public procurements, and property sales auctions. The majority of respondents acknowledged that the presentation of the company's activities in the media could be more frequent.

Respondents noted that the information published on the SE INPP website is sufficient, but it is not always easy to find it. SE INPP has also received a recommendation to adjust the content of the website, thus facilitating the search for information for the interested party, from the Governance Coordination Center, which annually evaluates the good governance index of state-owned enterprises. In response to the comments received, it is planned to review the information published by SE INPP soon and to improve the content of the website. It must be admitted that a large part of the respondents does not follow the content of SE INPP published on LinkedIn and Facebook.

We asked the respondents which measure would be named as the most appropriate for publicizing the content of the activities carried out by INPP. In answering this question, we allowed the respondents to choose several answer options. More than half of the respondents indicated the national media, the website, and Facebook of SE INPP.

Responding to the question in which areas could SE INPP improve its activities, the respondents expressed the need to obtain more information about ongoing projects and works, their uniqueness and safety measures in simple language, reduce the amount of paper documents, pay more attention to information dissemination on social networks.

In order to evaluate the activities of SE INPP or submit proposals, interested parties can always do so by filling in the questionnaire on the website of SE INPP: https://www.iae.lt/en/about-us/feedback/142
